Vacation: Part I
We took a lot of pictures so I think this will take a few days to put up.
Day 1: We didn't leave home until 2:00pm which was a lot later than we had planed. We amused ourselves on the drive by trying to find different state license plates. I printed a blank map of the US and when ever we saw a new state Joanna would color it in on the map. Since the states were not labeled on the map it had the added fun of learning where each state was. I was surprised by how many we found in the first hour. Long haul trucks and U-Hauls became our favorite targets for finding new states.
We drove to Fredericksburg VA, just past Lorton to get a room for the night. I was around midnight and we were pretty tired, except for Joanna who was already asleep. We got a cheep room at the Super 8.
Day 2: We planned to sleep in but the bed just wasn't comfortable enough. We went out for breakfast at Bob Evans. Joanna had toast and eggs, I got strawberry banana crepes and Rick got biscuits and gravy. It was all yummy! I left wishing the Bob Evans at home had not turned into a Friendly's.
We got to the train station a little before they were open to take cars and there was already a line.
After we check in our car Joanna had to check out the play area.
I made myself busy on the bench.
Rick went to check out the train and watch them load cars.
It didn't take long before Joanna had a friend.
Unfortunately it started to rain so we had to move into the station.
We rented a digEplayer for the trip. Joanna and her friend enjoyed it while we waited to board.
Soon it was time to board and we went to find out little rooms.
When it was time to sleep Joanna took the upper bunk where she would sleep.
If she would sleep.
Will she ever sleep?
Maybe she could pretend to sleep.
That seemed to work.
